There are so many things that go wrong when you travel today that it's really special when something goes right. We had the best experience with John, the West Shore Regional Supervisor, at Avis in Mechanicsburg, PA. We had picked up our vehicle in Newark and were supposed to return it at Harrisburg, PA--at the airport. The day before I was on the phone to Avis several times for well over 30 minutes at a time because we needed to change our return city. When I did reach someone to talk to, my call would get disconnected just before it was time to finalize things. Totally frustrated, we went into the Avis in Mechanicsburg. It's small and located inside a hotel. John was working. He took care of making the changes and the fee was reasonable. He was very accommodating. A day or two later we needed to change our return airport again (I know, I know--I was sick and there were other factors). He was able to help us when I called their locations. Super service. I wish all our travel had been like our experience with John at the Mechanicsburg Avis.
Horrible! I scheduled to rent a car over a month in advance. I wanted a compact car and was picking it up at 5:30. When I got there, they had no compact cars, nothing was ready and then the car they tried to loan me was all beat up and was an SUV....far cry from a compact that would be good on gas. As I drove away, I found out, not only was every side of the car all banged up, the taillight was cracked, but the radio didn't work. I had to turn back around and take the Jeep back. When I did, I got, and I quote "You got a free upgrade. What more did you want?" Upgrade? Seriously? The put me into another SUV, NOT a compact, and didn't even go over anything in the car. They were pissed I complained about the other car and wasn't happy with the "Upgrade" they gave me. If that was an "upgrade" I think I will pass. So I drove a car I did not want 7 hrs one way that got horrible gas mileage. I wasn't happy and would avoid Enterprise if you can. I use to use them all the time. The past 2 have been the same thing as this one. I won't make that mistake again. Is it too much to ask, when you schedule to have a compact car to rent on a certain date months in advance to have a compact car at that time ready for pick up?

The heavy set African male working here with the glasses, the way you were behaving was the reason I cancelled my reservation and went to hertz. Extremely rude, disrespectful & incompetent.
